Restore, Rehabilitate and Revitalize Texas Olive Orchards

Date: April 24, 2021
Time: 1:00 – 5:00 pm
Location: Jewett Farm, 1691 CR 258, Moulton, TX, 77975

It’s springtime in the olive orchard and time for the trees to wake up from one of the harshest winters on record for Texas. No doubt orchards around Texas look different this Spring.

Join Stephen Janak, Extension Program Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, for a discussion about what growers should be concentrating on in the orchard right now. This will be an open forum where we encourage members and growers to share their experiences and ask questions about their orchard and next steps.

Examples of topics for discussion include but are not limited to: pruning techniques, observations across the state, expectations for the future, variety trial results review, and rehabilitation principles for olive orchards.

We also want to hear how your orchard fared after the freeze and any success stories, anomalies, or methods you used to mitigate damage to the olive trees.

Two CEUs (1 IPM, 1 General) will be provided at the end of the day to those who hold a current Texas Pesticide Applicator license.

The event is free but we encourage growers to bring photos and information about the impact on their orchards for Stephen to document. Please RSVP for this event by April 21 by contacting Stephen Janak at stephen.janak@ag.tamu.edu or call/text 361-649-8561.

The event is open to TXAOO members and the public. Non-members are encouraged to consider joining the TXAOO.
